Every day, thousands of passengers travel between Marseille, Nice and Italy. But between the sea and the mountains, <strong>there are numerous technical constraints<\/strong>: narrow tunnels, short sections between tunnels, station areas and limited access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A construction site in an extremely challenging environment<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The objective?<\/strong> To replace the catenary in areas inaccessible to the Suite Rapide catenary system, at the heart of a network already occupied by several simultaneous construction sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The project was carried out in two phases<\/strong>: from September to December 2024, followed by a second phase of finalisation between May and July 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To minimise disruption to rail services, work was carried out at night, with up to 26 sets of points replaced each night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In total:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>9 km of pendulum<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>4 km of overhead protection cable laid in tunnels<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>12 catenary supports installed<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These operations were carried out in restricted access areas, under detection nets or in tunnels, requiring <strong>meticulous logistics<\/strong> and enhanced safety measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To meet these challenges, ETF mobilised <strong>four ELAN Rail\/Road gondolas <\/strong>with <strong>around fifteen employees<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure projects happening at the same time, like the <strong>Marseille\u2013Ventimiglia High Performance (HPMV)<\/strong> project, which aims to make trains run more regularly by
