The 5 km line will include five new stations and will provide a direct link between Bordeaux city centre and M\u00e9rignac airport.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1st<sup>successful<\/sup>weld in the presence of elected officials<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Wednesday 7 July 2021, the construction teams welcomed the following guests to witness the first of 743 welds for the future extension:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Prefect of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Mayor of M\u00e9rignac, President of Bordeaux M\u00e9tropole,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Mayor of Parempuyre, Vice-President of Bordeaux M\u00e9tropole in charge of public transport,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Mayor of B\u00e8gles, Vice-President of Bordeaux M\u00e9tropole in charge of mobility strategy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This was an opportunity to highlight the importance of this extension in improving the metropolitan area&#8217;s transport network and connecting the various transport infrastructures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A successful start to the project<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After a preparation phase, the operational teams from ETF&#8217;s Urban Transport Major Projects agency began work on the rail section of the project on 21 June 2021.
