{"id":15903578,"date":"2026-06-05T11:31:33","date_gmt":"2026-06-05T09:31:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.etf.fr\/uncategorized\/retour-sur-les-safety-days-2026\/"},"modified":"2026-07-06T13:48:16","modified_gmt":"2026-07-06T11:48:16","slug":"a-look-back-at-the-2026-safety-days","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.etf.fr\/en\/health-and-safety\/a-look-back-at-the-2026-safety-days\/","title":{"rendered":"A look back at the 2026 Safety Days"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Collisions between vehicles and pedestrians: a major risk at the heart of the debate<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year, the focus has been on a particularly serious hazard in railway works: interactions between machinery and pedestrians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On our construction sites, space constraints, multiple activities taking place simultaneously and sometimes difficult conditions (night work, confined spaces, ongoing operations) significantly increase the risks. Even at low speed, a machine can travel several metres in a matter of seconds, making any unforeseen situation potentially dangerous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">At ETF: planning ahead and organising to provide better protection<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These realities serve as a reminder that safety does not depend solely on drivers\u2019 vigilance, but rather on rigorous collective organisation and appropriate behaviour on the part of everyone involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At ETF, safety is built day by day:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>By preparing operations in advance,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>By clarifying everyone\u2019s roles,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>And by ensuring that every member of the team has a clear understanding of their working environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Being visible, keeping a safe distance from machinery, respecting exclusion zones and raising the alarm if in doubt are all essential habits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A strong commitment from the ETF Centre agency on the ground<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ETF Centre branch distinguished itself in particular by organising a full day dedicated to preventing risks involving machinery and pedestrians on 25 May, at the Amilly site. On this occasion, 60 staff members from the branch and the PLAC took part in immersive and educational workshops. Participants took part in virtual reality simulations to identify risky behaviour, before experiencing the blind spots of an excavator first-hand by climbing into the cab. A re-enactment demonstrated that, in just a few seconds of inattention, a machine can travel several metres within its blind spot and collide with a person. The day continued with a full-scale investigation into a simulated accident, enabling an analysis of risk factors, followed by a crash simulation workshop to broaden the discussion to include road hazards. Punctuated by informal discussions, the day helped to strengthen collective awareness and fully illustrates the agency\u2019s commitment to fostering a rigorous and shared safety culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A team highlight right at the heart of the action<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Throughout the week, teams came together to discuss issues, share their experiences and remain vigilant. These special moments served as a reminder that safety is everyone\u2019s responsibility, regardless of their role or level of experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And let\u2019s not forget: on a building site, seeing and being seen can save lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As it does every year, ETF threw its full weight behind the Safety Days organised by VINCI Construction worldwide.
