A new dynamic weighing lane in our maintenance workshop at Beauchamp
ETF has taken a major step towards optimising its operations by equipping its Beauchamp site with a brand new dynamic weighing track. The aim of this investment is twofold: to improve the quality and speed of in-house operations, while offering a high-performance solution to railway companies looking for a weighing system for all types of railway equipment (locomotives, special equipment, derailed equipment, etc.).
Commissioned in mid-January, the dynamic weighing track was accompanied by special training for operators, maintenance technicians and supervisory managers. Until now, rail vehicles were weighed using traditional equipment, a time-consuming and restrictive method. Now, thanks to this technology, the process has been greatly simplified and modernised.
How does it work?
Load cells integrated directly into the rail.
Technical room dedicated to control and data acquisition.
Weighing in motion at low speed (5 km/h), carried out in two round trips.
Instant, accurate results.
This new system cuts the time needed to weigh a machine by a factor of four, while reducing the errors associated with multiple handling. It also provides an initial analysis of the condition of the equipment, identifying any load distribution or suspension problems.
With this technological advance, ETF is optimising its own operations while meeting the requirements of the rail sector. Our customers now benefit from faster weighing, in line with regulatory requirements, which make weighing compulsory every three years.
