Business focus – Rail processing

Publié le 29 May 2019
Railway projects require a wide range of specific skills and expertise. To best meet the various needs and demands, ETF diversifies its activities and is involved in all stages, from network design to renewal. ETF has the only rail processing and bending workshop in France. Its 2,500 m2 of warehouse space is located directly next to the rail production site at the British Steel factory. This workshop, which is mainly dedicated to tram and metro rails, handles:
  • Anti-wear treatment to increase the service life of the rail and anti-squeal treatment to reduce noise.
  • Bending of rails, tracks and guide bars for curved installations
  • Striating of metro tracks to improve the grip of rubber-tyred metros
A team of eight people produces several hundred tonnes of rail per year for all of ETF’s urban projects as well as for external companies. To better understand how rail processing works in the factory, watch the video to discover the different stages!
