ETF Graduate Program in Materials meet on a Grand Paris Express worksite

As they do every year, the current and former graduates of ETF’s Graduate Program Matériel left their usual worksites behind for a very special visit. We headed for Nanterre, where one of the sites for the future line 15 West of the metro is being built.

The six engineers, accompanied by ETF’s materials manager, went behind the scenes of the work being carried out by Botte Fondations, a VINCI Construction entity. Located at the foot of l’Archipel – the VINCI Group’s head office – this project involves the construction of the Nanterre La Folie station and back station.

The Graduates witnessed the construction of the diaphragm walls, structures essential to the stability and safety of the works. They were able to observe the specific machinery used and discover the technical particularities of using concrete for this type of structure. The visit gave participants a better understanding of a fundamental stage in infrastructure construction, well upstream of ETF’s work to lay the tracks.

Over and above the technical aspects, this immersion provided an opportunity for a privileged exchange between two generations of Graduates. It was an opportunity for them to share experiences, strengthen ties and broaden their vision of professions that complement their own.
