OFC maintains Santiago’s metro network

Since 2016, OFC, our Chilean subsidiary, has established itself as an essential partner in the maintenance of the Santiago metro network. This 147 km network is the backbone of public transport in the Chilean capital, carrying nearly 2 million passengers every day.

To ensure the sustainability and efficiency of this vast network, OFC has won two long-term maintenance contracts.

M20 contract: 20 years of service on lines 3 and 6

This 20-year contract, which began in 2018, covers the preventive and corrective maintenance of the 40 km of track and catenaries on lines 3 and 6

Ripple wear, a natural phenomenon caused by the frequent passage of trains, can lead to derailment if not addressed. OFC regularly re-profiles the rails, thus correcting these defects and extending the lifespan of the infrastructure. This is crucial to guarantee the safety and comfort of passengers.

Contract M05: 5 years of maintenance on the oldest lines of the network

This 5-year contract, which began in 2024 and succeeds the previous 7-year contract (M7), covers lines 1, 2, 4, 4a and 5. A team of 260 employees is mobilised to carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on the tracks and the third rail. Particular attention is paid to the replacement of switch components, especially on line 1, which has been in service for over 50 years.
