The Rapid Suite RRI sets a new track renewal record!
In just one year of service, the teams of the Suite Rapide RRI recently accomplished a feat on the worksite between Longueau and Boulogne-sur-Mer. In just one night’s work, they broke all records: 2,155 metres of track were renewed, including the laying of new rails with screw fasteners and the complete removal of old rails, in just 5 hours and 52 minutes of work.
This feat is equivalent to almost seven times the height of the Eiffel Tower in terms of track replaced, with a remarkable rate of 6.13 metres of rail removed and replaced per minute. A total of 28,722 fasteners were handled and replaced, testifying to the efficiency of the teams and the fluidity of the process.
Just a year ago, we were still getting to grips with our RRI rapid suite and methodology. Today, our teams have completed this project with :
- 0 Lost Time Accidents
- 0 Safety incidents with a severity of 2 or more
- 0 environmental events while the site was in the Bay of Somme
- 0 late handovers
- 100% of the project completed 3 days ahead of schedule
- 30.3 km of track already renewed,
- An average of 1,160 metres of track renewed per night,
- Preparatory work completed 7 days ahead of schedule
- Clearance work in line with forecasts
Thanks to optimised management of materials, long welded rails (LRS) at the rear base, as well as machine maintenance and the use of welders, all stages of the project were successfully completed. This record would not have been possible without the exemplary commitment and coordination of the teams from the various ETF agencies (Suite Rapide RRI, MMI, Génie Civil, FEROWAY) and their partners, in particular SFERIS.
This industrial performance demonstrates not only ETF’s ability to produce under optimum safety conditions, but also to maintain a constant level of quality while respecting the rail industry’s decarbonisation objectives.
