48-hour intervention in the Invalides tunnel on the RER C line

ETF carried out a 48-hour blitz operation in the Invalides tunnel on the RER C line. The work involved replacing the ballast and the anti-vibration mat (specifically installed in this sensitive area), which are key elements for the stability and durability of the railway infrastructure.

Ballast, in particular, plays a fundamental role in maintaining the geometric requirements of the tracks, requiring regular maintenance to ensure passenger safety and comfort.

The anti-vibration mat is used to absorb and reduce the stresses and vibrations transferred to the structure of engineering structures, generated by rail traffic.

Improved comfort and durability

ETF’s intervention made it possible to renew this mat/ballast assembly in order to preserve the concrete structure of the tunnel, ensure the long-term reliability of the track geometry and thus significantly improve the experience of RER C users in terms of comfort and regularity of service.

Reuse of ballast: an environmental commitment

Beyond technical maintenance, this operation reflects ETF’s commitment to an eco-responsible approach. The ballast removed was recycled and reused on secondary tracks. This approach optimises the use of resources and also helps to reduce the environmental impact of railway maintenance activities.

The teams at ETF’s Centre agency have once again demonstrated their expertise and efficiency. Thanks to their work, the Paris rail network continues to meet high expectations in terms of performance and reliability, ensuring optimal service for all users.
