Renewal of the main freight line track in Montargis
The teams at ETF’s Centre branch have been working since January 2024 to renovate the Montargis maritime railway line. Their mission? To guarantee the reliability of the freight line, which is essential for the local transport network. Ensuring the long-term future of this line means working towards low-carbon transport and logistics for an entire region.
Railway construction projects can require our teams to work across large geographical areas, sometimes far from home. For once, our teams are working on the section of the line that connects Montargis station to the CAPROGA agricultural cooperative, located 800 metres from the Agency.
This project involves renewing the entire 2 km track and rehabilitating several level crossings.
Significant resources have been mobilised to complete the infrastructure work: ballasting, tamping and stabilisation. The proximity of the site to the agency’s premises reinforces the commitment of the employees, each of whom observes the progress on a daily basis. The use of the depot as a rear base centralises resources, promoting effective coordination. The agency’s equipment department thus plays a key role in the smooth running of the work.
Fifteen operational staff are mobilised every day to carry out the work. They are accompanied by two FEROWAY agents who ensure site safety. The ETF Centre agency is closely involved with the region’s social partners. Staff on integration programmes have been brought onto the site to reinforce the teams while integrating into the local approach to the project.
