Modernising the network of Europe’s busiest line: RER A
The renewal of the switches and crossings on the RER A line at Rueil-Malmaison bears witness to the considerable efforts being made to improve rail infrastructure and quality of service for the millions of users of Europe’s busiest line.
As contractor, ETF demonstrated its expertise and commitment to this project by mobilising significant human and material resources, and coordinating the complex work to tight deadlines.
The success of the main phase of the works, which ran from 8 to 12 May 2024, is the result of meticulous planning and effective collaboration between the various teams involved. A section of the RER A line was closed to allow maintenance work to be carried out on the switches and crossings between Chatou and Rueil-Malmaison.
Feroway provided all the rail safety services and transported the work trains, ensuring that operations ran smoothly on site.
The secondary phase, carried out at the end of October and recently completed, involved the renovation of 4 switches and the renewal of 200 metres of ballast track.
It was a real marathon where every minute counted: one operation over a weekend and two weeks of work, at a rate of 2 hours per night. Thanks to their commitment, our teams were able to guarantee a smooth resumption of traffic every morning, ensuring the transport of millions of users.
