Refurbishment of several junctions on the T1 tramway in Seine-Saint-Denis
As part of the modernisation of the Tramway T1 infrastructure, ETF, as contractor, carried out rehabilitation work at several strategic junctions in Noisy-le-Sec, Bondy and La Courneuve. This project involved up to 35 employees at its peak, and concerned key points where the tramway tracks cross major roads such as the Nationale 3 and the Nationale 186.
The works, carried out between September and November with night-time operations, were organised in several phases to limit disruption and ensure that the junctions could be brought back into use quickly, in order to minimise the impact on road traffic in these dense urban areas.
These areas, located at the heart of the Seine-Saint-Denis transport network, benefited from a complete overhaul, including the structure of the carriageway and tracks using factory-made precast slabs. Major projects include :
- Géo-André Stadium, La Courneuve: The road, which had been in a very poor state of repair for several years, had been causing traffic to slow down for several years. In a week of intensive work, this junction was restored to its original condition, allowing traffic to flow at the lane’s nominal speed.
- Bondy Bridge – Nationale 3, Noisy-le-Sec: Two strategic junctions were renovated in one week each, necessitating temporary traffic diversions to ensure the smooth running of the works. ETF worked in collaboration with SOGEA Environnement, which was carrying out parallel work on the Bondy bridge. This coordination made it possible to meet tight deadlines while optimising shared access areas.
- Junction of Nationale 186 and Tram T1 at the entrance to the A3: The old tracks were dismantled in order to redevelop the junction. The junction was divided into two parts along its length for three weeks. This operation, carried out in close proximity to road users, required rigorous planning to ensure everyone’s safety. This project reflects ETF’s expertise and its attention to the needs of its customer, RATP, which works to maintain and modernise urban infrastructure. The improvements made contribute to enhancing the safety and comfort of users, whether motorists or passengers on the T1 tramway.
