Rail-breaking speeds up work on the T2 tramway in Issy-les-Moulineaux
ETF is working on the redevelopment of the T2 tramway terminus at Porte de Versailles by integrating a rail breaker into its operations. This specialised tool speeds up rail cutting while improving working conditions for employees.
The rail breaker: a major asset for the efficiency of rail works
There are a number of benefits to using the rail breaker on this site:
- Ultra-fast cutting: less than 15 seconds compared with 3 minutes with a chainsaw
- Less arduous work: the tool does all the handling itself, limiting the physical effort required of the teams.
- Site delivered ahead of schedule, with minimal impact on local residents.
Timetable for the next stages of the project
- March – November 2025: Work at Porte de Versailles → interruption between Suzanne Lenglen and Porte de Versailles.
- 2026 and beyond: Addition of new trains to increase frequency to 3 min 30 at rush hour.
‘A good chainsaw makes a cut in 3 minutes. A rail breaker? Less than 15 seconds… and it does the handling. A pleasure for the guys.’
