Laying rails measuring 432 metres, ETF’s work trains evolve
In 2024, ETF has introduced a new Rapid Suite: Industrialised Rail Renewal (IRR). With the help of 20 gantries, a custom-designed LRS trainset and the REVO train, our teams will be renewing almost 300 kilometres of rail a year for SNCF Réseau over the next five years.
This project is distinguished by the laying of long welded rails (LRS), each measuring 432 metres, a first in France. These rails, which are longer than the Eiffel Tower, are handled without prior unloading thanks to 20 synchronised removable gantry cranes controlled by ETF operators. A custom-built train facilitates the transport and installation of these exceptional rails.
