This is a form of rail transport that is not often thought of, but which plays a very important role in connecting certain towns to their ski resorts, particularly during the summer months.

To ensure continuity of service and user safety, ETF has been responsible for maintaining the funicular railways in:

  • Tignes (2,100 metres above sea level to 3,032 metres)

Bourg Saint Maurice (807m to 1025m altitude)

This year, the ETF teams in Saint Priest replaced neoprene supports, repaired concrete blocks, and replaced expansion joints and rails.

Conditions are often difficult due to access and the gradient (between 20 and 33%).

A special feature this year was the use of a helicopter for supplies.
