A railway siding for the INVEHO LYS maintenance workshop
ETF has installed the railway tracks for the branch line connecting the INVEHO LYS workshop to the main line of the Compagnie Nationale du Rhône (CNR). Located in Saint-Romain-en-Gal, south of Lyon, this recently inaugurated workshop is the only private centre dedicated to the maintenance of freight wagons in the Rhône-Alpes region. This strategic connection will enable the wagons to be transported directly to the workshop.
Our client has opted for wooden sleepers on certain sections of the infrastructure. These sleepers come from sustainably managed forests that preserve the fauna and flora while guaranteeing the renewal of trees for future generations. After a lifespan of at least 30 years, they can be reused in the railway sector or for energy production. This solution helps to reduce its carbon footprint.
Our teams have also installed a concrete track in the workshop and a pit track for the inspection and maintenance of wagons. Custom-designed metal sleepers have been used, guaranteeing both precise rail gauge and easy levelling adjustment thanks to the use of screw jacks. A specific template has also been developed to enable the casting of the sole plate and the paving in a single stage, thus optimising the time taken to complete the work.
The work of installing connected terminals (ITE) requires expertise that brings together all the professions of track and civil engineering. Each private network has its own specific features, and our teams work daily to meet these requirements by developing customised solutions.
