SMI Vitry welcomes 50 students from EATP Egletons
The ETF teams were delighted to welcome 50 students from CAP (vocational training certificate) machine operation and Bac Pro (vocational baccalaureate) public works classes. They visited the future Infrastructure Maintenance Site (SMI) for line 15.
During the visit, the students were able to discover what goes on behind the scenes at a railway construction site:
- the role of a maintenance centre
- the different types of railway tracks and their composition
- the different stages of construction,
- the safety rules to ensure the safety of all parties involved
- the logistics between the different trades
It was also an opportunity for them to talk to operational staff to gain a better understanding of their jobs. As part of their course, ETF’s equipment manager for major urban projects presented the different types of machinery used in railway works and their specific features.
It was a particularly enriching half-day of sharing and discovery. We hope that these few hours spent with us will have inspired some of them to pursue a career in this field.ns !
