Extension of Marseille’s tramway network: end of rail works on line T3
Since January 2023, ETF has been leading the extension of the Marseille tramway for the Aix-Marseille-Provence metropolitan authority. This project is entering its final phase of rail works before entry into service, scheduled for 2025.
80% of the work completed
Since January 2023, ETF has been carrying out the extension work on line T3 of the Marseille tramway. After many months of work on several fronts, the project has reached a key milestone: 80% of the work has now been completed.
- Dromel-Montfuron maintenance and storage facility: teams are completing the final finishing touches.
- South extension: the final section is being fitted out at Place Castellane. Once completed, this section will be connected to the existing line, with work scheduled for early 2025. Some areas are also being concreted.
- Northern extension: work is continuing, with increased mobilisation of teams scheduled for early 2025 for this area. Delivery of this section is scheduled for the first half of 2025.
A strategic project for mobility in Marseille
This project, awarded to ETF in January 2021 by the Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolitan Authority with EGIS Rail as prime contractor, aims to strengthen the city’s public transport network. The project encompasses 15.7 km of single track, spread over three main areas:
- The Dromel-Montfuron SMR: 3.5 km of track for maintenance and train storage.
Northern extension: 3.6 km of track and three new stations to serve rapidly developing districts.
Southern extension: 8.8 km of track and nine new stations to link the southern districts with the city centre.
To complete this project, ETF called on Eurovia teams to carry out part of the infrastructure work.
This line will contribute to the lasting transformation of mobility in Marseille by meeting the challenges of service and urban development.
