The Marseille Tramway Project: The first ETF project eligible for the Excellence label

Publié le 21 September 2023

Following the audit on 14 September, the north/south tramway extension project in Marseille was awarded the Excellence Environnement label with the ‘local residents’ distinction.

The Excellence Environnement label is an award given to construction and infrastructure projects that demonstrate a remarkable commitment to protecting the environment and minimising the impact of our worksite on nature and local communities.

To retain this label, the construction site must maintain its commitment to the environment at an exemplary level throughout its completion. The auditor will regularly supervise our work, with visits scheduled every three months, followed by visits approximately every six months.

Among the virtuous actions implemented on the construction site, we can mention:

  • The installation of electric charging stations: contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by encouraging the use of electric vehicles (in progress)
  • The waste area at the base camp: A specific space dedicated to the responsible management of waste generated by the construction site.
  • The creation of a concrete pump washing area on the base camp grounds, equipped with a treatment and recirculation system for the reuse of wash water.
  • The chemical storage area at the base camp: ensuring safety and compliance in the management of these substances.
  • The adaptation of the anti-drip safety spout for fuel cans.
  • Emergency situation test workshops held on 31 May 2023 as part of JIP (International Prevention Day).

Well done to the GPU teams for their daily commitment to the environment.
