The Nice tramway is on track!
It has now been two years since the Nice Côte d’Azur metropolitan area called on ETF to develop the west-east and north-south tram lines that will connect Nice Airport to the Allianz Riviera stadium via the Promenade des Anglais.
This June, teams are working in the tunnel to lay 7 km of single concrete tracks. This work, which will take eight months, will enable efficient service to the city centre and preserve Nice’s historical heritage.
Another challenge of this project is the wide range of techniques and expertise deployed by the ETF teams, with no fewer than nine different types of track laying: conventional concrete, -10dBv, -20dBv, posts, bonded, conventional green track, sliding track, etc.
With the project scheduled for completion in July 2019, the work will have lasted three years and will have required:
– 48,000 sleepers,
– 4,000 tonnes of rail,
– 40 equivalent connections on concrete flooring,
– 4,700 welds (80% electric, mostly carried out by ETF Luxembourg, 20% aluminothermic),
– 25,000m3 of foundation concrete (type C20/25),
– 19,600m3 of track bedding concrete (type C35/45).
