Nice, work on the west-east tramway is progressing steadily
Team formation, technical organisation, production of quality and safety documents… It took no less than three months to prepare for this contract, which was awarded in July 2016. The project involves laying 18 km of single track and 4 km of track and catenary systems within a depot, in collaboration with ETF’s Caténaires agency.
In early July 2017, this led to the signing of another contract for the installation of tracks and catenary systems for the 3.5 km tunnel on line 2.
In 2018, the project will finally be completed with a conditional phase including the installation of an additional 3.5 km of track to the city’s new stadium.
Innovation and responsiveness:
Two new techniques will be used on this project: the installation of a green track on drainage gravel and the installation of a removable and reassemblable section for the creation of a road tunnel under the line. For this section, 2.60 m x 2.60 m slabs will be cast in situ and sealed together using mortise and tenon joints and prestressing cables, an idea developed in partnership with Freyssinet (VINCI Group).
To ensure the success of this project, more than sixty people and fifteen supervisors are involved, with nearly a hundred at peak times. The teams are highly responsive and ready for action to meet the initial commissioning deadline in April 2018.
