Installation of catenary systems for the extension of line D of the Grenoble tramway
ETF, as project manager, carried out LAC’s work on the extension of line D of the Grenoble tramway. The work, concentrated in the Taillées triangle in the heart of the Saint-Martin-d’Hères university campus, aims to connect line D to line B. From 24 August, passengers will be able to reach Grenoble station without changing trains.
This summer, ETF’s catenary teams and their subcontractors (Biasini and Bouygues Énergie et Services) worked hard to lay the foundations for the LAC supports, install the high-voltage equipment and roll out the LAC. The work, carried out during the day in an urban environment, required rigorous coordination, with particular attention paid to managing pedestrian, cyclist and other user traffic. The intense activity on the site required flawless organisation to ensure everyone’s safety.
At the same time, our teams brought a section of the LAC on line B into compliance, replacing the two-wire system with a more modern single-wire configuration.
With this extension, line D will be extended northwards, serving six new stations and thus improving mobility in the Grenoble conurbation. This ambitious project has been successfully carried out by our catenary experts and their subcontractors.
