Rapid catenary intervention on the Cévennes line

Publié le 2 May 2024

ETF’s catenary teams demonstrated their responsiveness during an incident on the Cévennes line at Monistrol-d’Allier (43). They responded to a traffic disruption caused by a rockfall that damaged several poles holding the detector nets.

Did you know? Detector nets, also known as metal protection nets, are frequently installed along railway lines. The purpose of these electrified nets is to alert train drivers to the likely presence of obstacles on or near the tracks. The work done on the catenary is essential and strategic to ensure the safety of the tracks and passengers.

In order to restore the network and allow trains to run, ETF intervened on behalf of SNCF Réseau by carrying out the following operations:

  • replacing 4 poles in the vicinity of kilometre 539.750.
  • locating the rebar for sealing the threaded rods.
  • repairing the wire nappes.

This operation illustrates ETF’s commitment to rail mobility and the safety of the national rail network.
