Reinforcement of overhead lines on the RER D line

Publié le 27 March 2023

In order to improve train punctuality and service quality for passengers, Île-de-France Mobilités is renewing a large part of the region’s rolling stock. In addition to acquiring new trains, the railway infrastructure must also be adapted, in particular by modifying the electrical power of the catenary systems. It is in this context that, since March 2022, 80 ETF employees have been working on the RER D line between Grigny and Corbeil-Essonnes stations.

The project involves upgrading the overhead lines (1500 V) and power supply stations to accommodate the arrival of 125 New Generation RER trains.

The teams are constructing 310 catenary pole foundations, installing more than 450 catenary support structures and laying 40 km of feeder cable.
