International Women’s Day
To mark International Women’s Day, ETF is highlighting gender diversity in the rail industry and reaffirming its commitment to equal opportunities, inclusion and diversity – values that are essential to supporting the sector’s development.
At ETF, we firmly believe that diversity of backgrounds drives performance, innovation and collective commitment. That is why we work every day to recruit, support and develop all our staff, regardless of gender.
Technical careers open to everyone
In a sector long considered a male-dominated field, things are changing! Whether on construction sites, in design offices or in support roles, women are playing a full part in the planning and delivery of projects.
ETF is committed to showcasing the diversity of its roles and opening up career opportunities to as many people as possible, whether through internships, work-study schemes, first jobs or internal career progression.
Many of ETF’s female employees play an active role in the development of the company’s rail projects.
Encouraging women to pursue careers with Elles bougent
ETF is also committed to engaging with younger generations to inspire new careers. Since 2018, the company has been a partner of the charity Elles bougent, which encourages young women to pursue careers in science, technology and industry.
Several female employees act as mentors or contacts for students. Their role? To share their experience and introduce them to the diversity of careers in the rail sector. During the meetings and events organised by the association, their discussions also help to combat the stereotypes still associated with technical fields.
UA collective effort to combat sexism
ETF has introduced a number of initiatives to combat sexism and foster a culture of respect and inclusion:
- E-learning course: “Combating everyday sexism”
- 15-minute themed session: “Sexist behaviour: let’s speak out”
- Webinar: “Sexism in the construction industry – identifying, responding to and preventing it”
ETF teams also took part in Gender Balance Week, an initiative led by VINCI to promote professional equality and strengthen the culture of inclusion within the Group. The programme included round-table discussions, conferences and workshops to raise awareness of gender diversity issues and combat sexism. This year’s event placed particular emphasis on preventing sexist behaviour, with a clear message: #NotAtVINCI.
