At the heart of the Industeel factory, ETF renews a set of track equipment
Teams from ETF Luxembourg and its Belgian branch renewed a set of tracks at the Industeel site (Belgium) in August 2020. On private networks, ETF teams draw on all their expertise to meet customer needs.
ITE (Installation de Terminales Embranchées) work requires expertise covering all aspects of track and civil engineering. Unlike national rail networks, which comply with norms and standards, private networks each have their own specific characteristics.
Industeel, a subsidiary of Arcelor Mittal specialising in steel production, called on ETF to renew a piece of track between 28 July and 11 August 2020. In addition to the specific track work, a great deal of civil engineering work had to be carried out.
Details of the project:
- Demolition of the slab and old concrete casing over an area of 530 m2
- 190 m³ of earthworks in the excavation under the slab
- Supply and installation of 233 tonnes of cement gravel
- Installation of new track equipment
- Installation of 30 metres of track
- Aluminothermic welding
- Level and profile adjustment
- Supply and installation of concrete 30 cm thick over an area of 530 m²
In order to complete the project within the timeframe requested by Industeel, ETF enlisted the help of two subcontractors: MFD to build the new track apparatus and UA BTP for the earthworks.
The ETF Luxembourg teams successfully coordinated the work of all those involved and ensured that the project ran smoothly, with the track equipment being put back into service on time. This was a great achievement that has strengthened our ties with the Arcelor Mittal group.
