Rapid Response in Dense Areas, unfailing agility in synergy with VINCI Construction
As part of the Suite Rapide Zone Dense campaign, ETF teams carried out a 72-hour blitz operation to renew the track ballast (RVB) from 3 to 5 March 2023.
Ce chantier de régénération voie/ballast concernait, dans sa totalité, 15 km entre Plaisir et Epônes (78). CThis track/ballast regeneration project covered a total of 15 km between Plaisir and Epônes (78). The work was carried out mechanically by TEVO/REVO rapid suites at night during the week. On the section in the town of Nézel (78), the presence of two level crossings, which are particularly busy during the week, made it impossible to close them. Our teams adapted by proposing another method known as ‘Hors Suite’ (off-suite), which enabled the objectives set by SNCF Réseau to be met within the allotted time.
Significant resources were deployed, both in terms of equipment and manpower:
- One work train
- Two tamping machines
- Two ballast cleaners
- One bigrue
- Three rail-road excavators
- More than 60 people mobilised.
Meticulous preparation and precise timing are the two key components for the success of such a project.
Several VINCI Construction subsidiaries in France took turns to carry out the work: the track and catenary teams from ETF, L’Essor (Eurovia) and Feroway. Their synergy enabled them to carry out a wide range of operations requiring a multitude of skills, showcasing the VINCI Group’s expertise in improving the reliability and safety of the rail network.
