Two major advances for training in the Egyptian railway market

Publié le 25 November 2025

November 2025 marks a significant milestone for Franco-Egyptian cooperation in training and employment with the signing of the first work-study contract in Egypt between ETF and the French University in Egypt (UFE) and the visit of an Egyptian delegation to the ETF Academy premises.

A historic first for training in Egypt

On 10 November, ETF took an important step forward by signing the first tripartite apprenticeship contract with UFE and a student in Cairo. This initiative introduces a French training model to Egypt, combining academic education with immersion in a company. It offers our new colleague practical experience and skills directly tailored to the needs of the Egyptian railway market. This first experience paves the way for future opportunities for other students wishing to follow this path.

UEgyptian delegation immerses itself in ETF Academy

On 20 November, ETF had the honour of welcoming an official Egyptian delegation composed of representatives from the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Education. The purpose of the visit was to discover the French railway training ecosystem and exchange best practices for developing local skills.

During the day, participants were able to:

  • Explore the educational infrastructure dedicated to railway professions.
  • Understand the mechanisms of work-study programmes and their role in skills development.
  • Discuss the challenges of technical and managerial training with our trainers.

A strategic partnership for the future of railways in Egypt

These two events are part of the partnership signed last September between ETF Egypt and UFE, aimed at training the talent of tomorrow.

Beyond the technical aspects, this project illustrates a shared ambition: to invest in the education and professionalisation of younger generations in order to support the sustainable development of the Egyptian railway network.
