Phase 3 of Line 3 is launched On 8 November, ETF, in consortium with Orascom Construction in particular, signed a contract to begin phase 3 of Cairo Metro Line 3: the extension of the existing Line 3 to the west bank of the Nile. The work covers 17.7 km of track, where 15 stations – 8 in tunnels, 5 on viaducts, 2 at ground level – and a light maintenance depot will be built. ETF is responsible for the design, supply and installation of the track, including a third rail for power supply. Three installation methods will be used: concrete track with twin-block sleepers in tunnels, track on stringers with direct fastening on viaducts, and ballasted track with concrete or wooden sleepers on other sections.
