Launch of the modernisation project for the Sathonay-Rillieux / Bourg-en-Bresse line
As part of a consortium, Champenoise, a subsidiary of ETF, officially launched the modernisation works on the Sathonay-Rilleux/Bourg-en-Bresse regional line on 7 July 2020. This conventional renewal project will largely take place on a closed line (S9A3 regime).
The SNCF is entrusting the management of the section under construction for a predefined period of time to railway companies. This gives them greater autonomy but also much more responsibility for managing safety and rail traffic.
With around 100 people mobilised, the work is being carried out over 20 km and is divided into three phases:
- The preparatory work currently underway is being carried out under an S9A1 regime (standard intervention).
- The main work will then be carried out under an S9A3 regime (closed section).
- The main work on the single track and the reinforcement work are scheduled to be completed between September and October, again under an S9A1 regime (standard intervention).
Environmental protection is a key consideration in the day-to-day management of this project. As the line crosses the Dombes, a natural and historic region, measures are being taken to ensure that biodiversity is preserved.
