Modernisation of the South East European Technical Centre
As part of the TSEE 4.0 programme, ETF has been working for several years at a site that is emblematic of French railways: the South-East European Technical Centre in Paris. A major hub for the maintenance of TGV trains operating on the south-east line, this site requires constant technical vigilance.
During two punch operations (weekend work), preceded by several weeks of preparation and finishing touches, our teams once again successfully put their expertise in organisation, logistics and production to the test in a highly constrained environment: railway technical centres.
The project involved replacing track equipment (ADVs) and running track while minimising disruption to rail traffic and the operation of the technical centre, which remained in service throughout the works.
The success of this operation depended on meticulous organisation and a thorough understanding of the site constraints:
- Assembly of track equipment and panels on site in advance, secure assembly area in the middle of a track platform in use
- Installation using two excavators of the three ADV devices and track panels in a small work area
- Welding, additional levelling and finishing during the second weekend with a focus on a clean final result
In total, three sets of points and over 120 metres of track were upgraded in the heart of a major railway hub.
