ETF in action at the Technicentre Paris Nord Joncherolles (93)
SNCF Voyageurs has invested €40 million in the extension and refurbishment of the existing buildings at the Technicentre Paris Nord Joncherolles, located in Villetaneuse (93). This ambitious project, scheduled for completion in April 2027, will support the arrival of new RER B trains.
A major two-year project
One of the major challenges of the project is the seamless coordination between the railway works and the construction of a new building in the middle of the existing tracks.
In January 2025, our teams launched this project with the aim of completing several major operations during the year:
- Track reconfiguration: moving rails, constructing foundations and walls.
- Removal of 6 tracks out of 7, while maintaining one active track for material removal. A total of 2.2 km of tracks and ballast will be removed and then replaced, incorporating tracks on sleepers and in cuttings.
- Installation of a side cleaning track
ETF Services will handle the removal of materials by construction train, including 4,500 metres of rails and 3,000 concrete sleepers. A rear base has been set up within the technical centre to facilitate the management of operations and the parking of construction trains.
Our civil engineering and signalling experts need to relocate signalling systems to adapt the railway environment to new installations.

In 2026, our teams will create the post tracks inside the technical centre, as well as a cleaning track on a pit dedicated to the maintenance of new trains. All tracks are scheduled to be connected by the end of 2026.
Thanks to this modernisation work, the Paris Nord Joncherolles Technical Centre will become a benchmark site for the maintenance of new RER B trains. This transformation will ensure better network performance, thereby enhancing the reliability of rail transport in the Île-de-France region.
