ETF renews track G at Gare de Lyon station

Publié le 27 January 2026

With 113 million passengers in 2024, France’s third busiest station needs to ensure the performance of its tracks. In the darkness of autumn nights, so as not to disturb any passengers, ETF teams worked between September and December 2025 to renew one of the tracks in the station’s historic hall.

A technical challenge requiring precision

The ETF teams had to deal with the specific characteristics of this iconic station. Gone are the ballast and sleepers traditionally used in railway track construction; here, we are replacing the tracks with 100% concrete. New constraints are pushing the teams to implement innovative, precise and secure operating procedures to ensure the strength and durability of the infrastructure as well as the health of the personnel involved.

Teamwork made in ETF

Several ETF agencies contributed their expertise and experience to this project. The Centre agency worked on the renewal of 360 linear metres of track, the Civil Engineering/Sig agency reinforced the masonry arches that make up the structure, and ETF Caténaire carried out quality checks on the network’s electrical installations.

Our teams work day and night to ensure smooth rail traffic and passenger safety. Thanks to this track regeneration, rail traffic and passenger safety are guaranteed for many years to come on track G at Gare de Lyon station.
