Innovation in the field: digitisation of assembly logs
On catenary construction sites, every detail counts. To improve efficiency and reliability, ETF recently rolled out a simple but impactful innovation: the digitisation of assembly manuals, allowing field teams to access plans directly from the catenary poles.
A familiar issue: the fragility of paper
Until now, each team leader received a paper assembly booklet. However, between bad weather, frequent updates and the risk of confusion, this format had several limitations:
- Rapid deterioration of documents
- Risk of errors if an old plan index is used
- Lack of responsiveness in the event of changes during construction
A simple and effective digital solution
To remedy this, the teams at ETF’s Caténaire agency designed a tailor-made solution:
- Digitisation of assembly sheets
- Creation of specific QR codes for each sheet
- Affixing these QR codes to the catenary poles directly on site
Thanks to this system, each team leader can scan a code with their smartphone and instantly access the correct plan in its latest version.
The benefits in the field
- Reduced risk of errors thanks to access to the latest versions
- Time savings and increased autonomy for teams
- Logistical streamlining (less paper, greater responsiveness)
- Better coordination between project managers and contractors
An innovation rolled out on a large scale
This system is currently being rolled out across ETF’s catenary construction sites throughout France. The aim is to make this innovation a new working standard that is more environmentally friendly, more reliable and more flexible.
At ETF, innovation starts on the ground and is rolled out to enhance operational excellence at all levels.
