The Lunéville–Sarrebourg line renewed at an unprecedented pace thanks to the RRI Rapid Service

From 28 April to 21 June 2025, the Rapide RRI team carried out a major project on behalf of SNCF Réseau between Lunéville (54) and Réchicourt-le-Château (57). On this section of the Lunéville–Sarrebourg line, 25,400 metres of track (50,800 metres of rails) were renewed in just 15 nights (20 nights planned), thanks to the commitment of the teams involved and the efficiency of the REVO factory train.

The Lorraine 4 project stood out thanks to its exceptional production rate. On 13 May, a new record was set with 2,155 metres of track (4,310 metres of rails) renewed in a single night. This achievement was made possible by rigorous organisation, meticulous logistics between the rear base in Réding (57) and the construction site, and the use of the REVO factory train, renowned for its efficiency.

Thanks to the dedication of our 130 employees—welders, release teams, track layers, field teams and back office staff—this record has been broken several times on this site.

Every day, teams at base camp unloaded and reloaded the work train and supplied rails and equipment. At night, teams on site laid 432-metre-long continuous welded rails with remarkable precision and consistency.

People at the heart of performance

Beyond the technical prowess, this project illustrates ETF’s commitment to professional integration and the transfer of expertise. After training at our ETF Academy centre, five people on integration programmes joined the reinforcement team, actively participating in the blasting of an average of 1,200 metres per night.

Exemplary cooperation between ETF and SNCF Réseau

The success of this project depends on the smooth collaboration between ETF and SNCF Réseau. Careful planning and our shared culture of prevention have ensured high-level industrial performance, achieved in complete safety (zero workplace accidents and zero safety incidents). The consistency of the results (an average of 1,700 metres of track renewed) and the absence of late returns are testament to perfectly controlled management.

This project once again demonstrates ETF’s ability to rapidly modernise railway infrastructure while contributing to the decarbonisation of rail transport. Congratulations to all the ETF and SNCF Réseau teams for this exemplary achievement, which is the result of collective commitment and shared expertise.
