The tracks at Vendée’s main railway station are getting a makeover

During the second half of 2023, teams from ETF’s Atlantic branch worked hard to renew all the tracks and track equipment at La Roche-sur-Yon station for their client SNCF Réseau.

As the main station in Vendée, this line is strategic for rail services in the region. Having not been renovated for 30 years, the station’s tracks regularly required extensive repair work. With this complete renewal project, maintenance work will be significantly reduced, thereby improving track reliability. Passengers will enjoy greater comfort and fewer disruptions due to speed restrictions.

As part of this project, our teams renewed nearly 1.2 km of track and the associated track equipment. All the wooden sleepers were replaced with concrete sleepers, the century-old rails were removed and replaced with new ones, and all the ballast was renewed.

The ETF teams were able to count on the synergy of the VINCI Construction Group in France, with support from Feroway for train operation and rail safety, and Terelian for earthworks.

Work began in September 2023 and was completed in December 2023. Most of the work was carried out at night, involving around fifteen operational staff. The work was initially planned to be carried out over five OCP weekends. ETF stood out by making a technical proposal that allowed the work to be carried out in just two weekends, thus limiting disruption to users. Around forty operational staff were deployed for these operations, working in three shifts.
