High-security operation in the Corbinières tunnel in Brittany
As part of a National Out-of-Service Contract (MNHS) for SNCF Réseau, teams from the Atlantique agency carried out work on the tracks connecting Rennes to Redon (35).
Divided into two distinct phases, this project mobilised nearly 30 ETF operational staff:
- From April to mid-July 2021 in the Corbinières tunnel to renew 1,000 metres of track
- From mid-August to mid-November 2021 at the exit of Redon station to renew 6,000 metres of track
As part of the work carried out in the Corbinières tunnel, enhanced preventive measures were taken.
- All operational staff and management present underwent specific training for working in confined spaces. Conducted by a specialist organisation, this training enabled them to better understand risky situations, learn how to use dedicated protective equipment and respond effectively in an emergency.
- To ensure proper ventilation of the tunnel, a ventilation system was installed on the wagons.
- Mist sprayers were installed on the ballast beds. The light rain they produce causes dust to fall to the ground, thereby limiting its spread.
