Renewal of ballasted track on the RER C

Publié le 25 August 2023

Over a period of five weeks, ETF regenerated 3,000 metres of track on the RER C line, focusing on the specific areas of Grands Augustins and Montebello.

For this project, which was carried out entirely in tunnels, where limited space and winding curves posed a real technical challenge, pre-assembly of the track at Juvisy was an essential prerequisite. Work began on 12 June, with strict deadline management.

The specific requirements of working in a tunnel were met with flying colours: supplies and waste were transported exclusively by work trains, mechanical ventilation was installed, individual badges and gas detectors were used, LED lighting was installed and ballast was sprayed to prevent dust.

Our CSR approach was marked by the optimisation of work train movements and more than 1,600 hours of integration on the site, underlining our social and environmental commitment.

We carried out this major project for SNCF Réseau, Pole PRG, IPSO in partnership with TSO, railway works. FEROWAY, our partner on the site, was responsible for driving and supporting the work trains.

A big thank you to all our teams working three shifts a day, reinforced by colleagues from different agencies, for their dedication to this RER C Castor project, which marks a new stage in our railway journey!
