120 points machines renewed for ETF’s Vigirail teams

The Vigirail programme was launched in 2013 by SNCF Réseau with the aim of improving the safety and reliability of the French rail system.

The Vigirail ETF projects have had very positive results over the past year. No fewer than 120 pieces of track equipment and 10 km of track/ballast have been renewed.

Divided into 15 operations, the success of the 2019 Vigirail campaign is a testament to the cohesion and mobilisation of various agencies. Thanks to the work of the Centre-IDF, Nord, Est and Travaux Mécanisés agencies, deadlines and objectives were met.

This year also saw the use of MATISA’s new generation of flatbed wagons. These wagons can be used to transport fully prefabricated track components instead of assembling them directly on site. Thanks to this system, SNCF Réseau has greatly facilitated the transport of materials, which has increased the pace and therefore the quality of the final work.

The increase in this type of delivery clearly indicates the SNCF’s desire to industrialise track renewal projects. This is an opportunity for ETF and heralds a promising future for the coming years.
