Synergy: when civil engineering calls on railway expertise!
For many years, the teams at ETF Grands Projets have been involved in developing urban mobility in Nice. Three years ago, they completed the construction of the West-East and North-South tram lines. This summer, they were involved in specific aspects of the SOVM project.
A synergy of trades at the service of mobility
The Nice Côte d’Azur metropolitan area has entrusted the VINCI Construction/Razel-Bec consortium with the development of a new western exit for the Voie Mathis (SOVM). This operation will relieve congestion on this section of the A8 motorway and facilitate traffic flow.
In anticipation of this project, Nice Métropole had a temporary track laid at the ‘Grand Arenas’ tram station in 2021. One year later, the teams in charge of construction are returning, commissioned by the consortium, to remove the temporary track and lay the permanent track.
ETF Grands Projets in OCP mode!
Accustomed to long-term operations, the ETF teams specialising in urban railway design/construction projects were called in to carry out two short-term operations. On the weekends of 11-12 and 25-26 June 2022, around fifteen operational staff worked day and night to remove and then reinstall 60 metres of track. These operations were meticulously timed and a complete success for the teams, who were able to return the track to service on time on Monday morning.
