ETF Luxembourg carries out major renewal work at Louvain La Neuve station
From 20 October to 03 November 2022, 30 operational staff from the ETF Luxembourg branch were mobilised for their costumer Infrabel, to renew a complex of switches and crossings at Louvain-La-Neuve Université station. The work was part of Infrabel’s infrastructure maintenance programme.
7 days to renew 7 switches and crossings
For a week, ETF Luxembourg teams worked round the clock in 3×8 shifts to meet Infrabel’s challenge.
In total, the work involved renewing :
- 154m of track
- 4000m of rails
- 88 welds were made.
- 1TJS, 1 TO, 5 BS
- Earthworks of 2000 m3
All the objectives were achieved, despite the site’s location in an enclosed, compressed area and the very limited time available.
Site preparation is essential to success.
Thanks to their know-how and experience, the teams were able to anticipate the site’s logistical requirements. All the work was completed in record time using a railway crane.
A great success made possible by the mobilisation of everyone and the teamwork shown by the operational staff and support functions.
