ETF renews its commitment to inclusion through para-basketball
ETF is continuing its sponsorship of the Forézien wheelchair basketball club for the next two seasons. Through this partnership, ETF reaffirms its commitment to inclusion and highlights inspiring stories, such as that of Pierre, a member of the catenary design team and a keen athlete competing at national level.
An inspiring professional and personal journey
At the age of 39, Pierre is a design engineer in ETF’s catenary design department. His career path is a testament to his remarkable ability to adapt and his unwavering determination. After starting his career as an electrician, he trained to become a design engineer following a life-changing accident at the age of 21, which left him paraplegic.
Since then, Pierre has been working in the railway sector, first at Cegelec, then at ETF, where he has gradually worked his way up the ranks, from draughtsman to design engineer, to his current role. This career path has been made possible thanks to his perseverance, but also to the trust placed in him. “Even with a disability, it is possible to hold positions of responsibility and progress in your career,” he emphasises.
Sport as a driving force for balance and personal achievement
Alongside his professional career, Pierre has been playing competitive wheelchair basketball for over 15 years. He currently plays in the second tier of the national league, trains several times a week and takes part in competitions throughout France.
This sport plays a vital role in his daily life. It enables him to push himself, to maintain a balance between his professional and personal life, and to be part of a strong team spirit. Despite the organisational challenges this entails, Pierre manages to balance his commitments, demonstrating that sporting excellence and disability are compatible.
Meaningful sponsorship
By renewing its sponsorship of the Forez-based club for the next two seasons, ETF is taking concrete steps to support inclusive sport and those who bring it to life. This partnership not only enables the company to support committed athletes, but also to promote strong values: pushing oneself to the limit, team spirit and inclusion.
Through this initiative, the company also celebrates the diversity of its employees’ backgrounds and highlights the talents that contribute fully to its collective dynamism.
A clear commitment to inclusion
This commitment is fully in line with the ambitions of ETF and VINCI Construction regarding the inclusion of people with disabilities. Through its initiatives, ETF promotes an accessible, fair and respectful working environment, where everyone can find their place and develop their potential.
