Deutsche Bahn, Germany’s public rail infrastructure operator, has awarded two rail work contracts in North Rhine-Westphalia to ETF’s German subsidiary THG. These two projects represent a total value of €67 million.

The first contract concerns the redevelopment of Bonn Beuel station. The work, which will start in the first quarter of 2021 and be completed in 2023, consists of renewing two tracks, renovating the platforms, building two pedestrian subways, creating access for people with reduced mobility and installing noise barriers.

The second contract concerns the renewal of eight kilometres of track and the creation of 3.3 kilometres of new track on the line between Leverkusen-Rheindorf and Langenfeld-Berghausen. This work will enable the speed of trains to be increased to 160 km/h. The contract also includes the installation of more than 8,000 m² of noise barriers.
