Mobilisation on phase 3A

For nearly 24 months, 300 employees of the ETF-Orascom-TSO joint-venture have been working on phase 3A of the Cairo metro line 3 extension project. Carried out for NAT, the National Authority for Tunnels, this phase will link the current “Attaba” terminus to the “Kit Kat” station. It is 4km long and includes the construction of 8km of single track to serve 4 new stations. Work will continue throughout the first half of the year, with service expected to begin in 2022.

This new section of line 3 will join line 1 at Nasser station. All three metro lines in the Egyptian capital will thus be interconnected to provide better access to the area and easier commuting for thousands of users.

Phase 4B awarded in 2021

Our clients, Orascom and ArabContractors, have been awarded by Engineering News Record magazine for the completion of phase 4B. It has been recognised as the world’s best transport and railway project in 2021. ETF, in a joint-venture with TSO and Orascom, carried out all the construction work for the 11.5 km rail system and for the new depot, which has become the largest in the Middle East.

ETF’s teams in Egypt are proud to have been involved for over 10 years in this major project, which enables thousands of Cairo residents to travel more easily, quickly and responsibly every day.
