ETF mobilises for the Bry-Villiers-Champigny project

Publié le 23 February 2023

As part of the preparatory work for the future Bry-Villiers-Champigny (BVC) railway station, ETF teams are currently working near Villiers-sur-Marne station to divert all the networks.

A new multimodal hub for eastern Greater Paris

This preparatory work, which began in December 2022, will enable our client SNCF Réseau to add a third track to the RER E line. The new track will run between Villiers-sur-Marne and Emerainville – Pontault-Combault stations (77). A key driver of development in this area and the future eastern gateway to Greater Paris, the RER E station project will be completed in 2027. It will increase train frequency and improve the operational performance of the southern branch of the line.

UA carefully timed operation

Five intensive operations are planned to complete this project. The third phase took place from 17 to 19 February 2023. It enabled four new open-air crossings to be completed. This operation mobilised around twenty operational staff who installed conduits under the tracks to enable the existing electrical circuits to be diverted from track 1 to track 2 in the coming months.

Details of the stages for each underpass:

  • Transport of machinery and equipment to the construction site
  • Earthworks and excavation
  • Installation of shoring
  • Installation of conduits
  • Backfilling of the excavation

To ensure traffic safety, the Civil Engineering and Signalling agency (agent) was able to count on the teams from the North agency (Paris-Nord sector) to monitor the track geometry parameters before and after the work.

The teams had to cope with a reduction in their working time to allow SNCF Réseau to operate its network during the day at weekends, in order to limit the impact on passenger traffic. This challenge was successfully met by the operational teams and praised by the client.
