ETF wins a new Rapid Suite contract

Publié le 11 March 2024

As part of the programme to transform and modernise the national rail network, SNCF Réseau has awarded lot 4 of the RGI contract to ETF. The €700 million contract covers the renewal of 800 km of track and ballast for the period 2024-2030 throughout France.

Experts in high-efficiency regeneration, the ETF Grands Projets Ferroviaires teams have already renewed 1,750 km of track. Building on this expertise, ETF is optimising its Rapid Suite and introducing a new, innovative methodology combining reliability, safety, quality and agility. The dedicated fleet of equipment will also evolve, and the organisation will be strengthened to meet the requirements of this project.

A commitment to sustainable employment

We will carry out this contract by promoting inclusion through employment. We will open up all recruitment opportunities to people who are far from it, with no restrictions on qualification levels. ETF is relying on ViE, the VINCI Group’s subsidiary with expertise in integration issues, to carry out nearly 150,000 hours of work.

With the main aim of securing long-term employment, several training modules (safety, job skills, etc.) will be provided to workers on integration programmes by ETF Academy. In addition, ETF can count on its network of tutors, the ‘aiguilleurs’, to promote integration and the transmission of knowledge. A ViE integration coordinator post has also been created to ensure effective socio-professional support.

A commitment to the environment

ETF has carefully analysed the environmental characteristics of the market to identify the best practices to adopt.

A responsible selection of service providers, subcontractors and suppliers has been carried out to guarantee their commitment to environmental exemplarity. Preventive measures will be put in place to combat pollution, the over-consumption of resources and the preservation of biodiversity.

Reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions is also one of our core concerns. With this in mind, concrete action is being taken to adapt staff mobility rules, renew the vehicle fleet with hybrid/electric vehicles and gradually electrify the locomotive fleet.

These measures will be combined with those that will be carried out in collaboration with SNCF Réseau, such as shortening the transport distances between the base and the worksite and connecting the PC facilities and rear bases to the electricity network. They will result in a 10% reduction in emissions, representing 700 tCO2 for the entire project period.

In an ever-changing world, ETF remains resolutely forward-looking. On the strength of its policy in favour of social and environmental responsibility, the company continues to innovate and is committed to redoubling its efforts in this market and in many other projects for efficient and sustainable mobility.
